What Are the Requirements to Hire a Caregiver?

Employers must meet the financial ability based on the regional low income cut off for child care and elderly care as salary varies.

How Long Does the Process Take to Hire a Caregiver?

Approximate processing time varies between 4 to 6 months depending on what countries caregivers are coming from.

What Are the Procedures?

Job offer advertisements are set up through the Job Bank and other national websites to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents for the job being offered. If there are no available local applicants, we will proceed with hiring overseas workers.

What Are the Requirements for Caregiver Applicants?

They must have completed education equal to that of a Canadian secondary school diploma (or higher), and they have at least six months' training or one year of work experience as a caregiver or in a related job (including at least six months of ongoing work with one employer). They must also have the ability to speak, read and understand English or French.
